A Mop for Christmas?

I got a mop for Christmas.

Lame!

Well, not really. It's a really cool mop.

Well, it's actually hot.

You see, it's a floor steamer. It was my husband's idea. We're not clean freaks or anything, but we do like a clean house. I clean regularly...you know...when I can. It's not my favorite thing to do, but it needs to get done. Especially with two young kids in the house. They're not too messy. The unfortunate thing about cleaning is that it doesn't last. No matter how well you clean something, it'll get dirty again. Even if you never use it or go into that room. Ugh.

So I got this Shark S3601 Professional Steam Mop. It's really fun. Today I spent the morning vacuuming so I can use my new steam mop. I started in the master bathroom. Wow! It looked great when I was done. Next I did the girls' bathroom. Nice. Then onto the kitchen. Now I knew the floor looked dirty, but with our stone tile, it's sometimes hard to tell what is dirt and what is stone. Well, let me tell you. It was totally obvious which tiles I had steam cleaned and which ones I hadn't done yet. Kind of gross.

All I can say is this little steamer is wonderful! The floor gets clean without very much elbow grease. The steam does most of the work for you.

Shark Steam Mop Pros

This product is much better than a mop. It's a steam mop. You add water into the water tank, it heats up, and then steam comes out the bottom. The product comes with two microfiber covers that cover the bottom and can be washed in the washing machine. You can use both sides of the mop head while mopping without having to change the covers. All you do is flip the dirty side over and start cleaning with the clean side. The mop head fully swivels so you can get into tight nooks like behind the toilet and into the corners.

This model has three levels of steam. Dust, Mop, and Scrub. I used scrub since this was the first time I have used the mop.

Another great feature of this model is that the unit with the water tank can come off the main part of the product. You can then use it as a hand held steamer. This is great for steaming the germs off the faucets and cleaning inside the shower.

There is an attachment for steaming your clothing or drapes as well. This mop has it all!

It comes with an attachment for steaming the carpet. The mop head just sits on this rectangular unit and it glides over carpet nicely. Very easy to use.

The best part of all is that you don't use any harsh chemicals while cleaning your floor. That means that it's extremely safe for your pets and children. You also aren't breathing in harsh fumes while cleaning. (Even though that fresh pine scent smells yummy.) Your floors are clean using steam while bacteria and germs eliminated.

And the super best part is that my back does not ache from mopping my floor!

Shark Steam Mop Cons

In my opinion, the biggest con for this steam mop is the water tank. I think it could be a little bit bigger. While cleaning my kitchen floor, I had to stop several times to refill the water tank. However, I cleaned the entry, guest bathroom, and the small entry to the garage on one tank of water and had some left over.

The other con is the price. It costs a lot more than a standard mop. However, I feel that the price is well worth it because it did an awesome job cleaning my floors.

According to the owners guide it's ideal for:

Laminate

Bamboo

Hardwood

Marble

Tile

Stone

Linoleum

I have ceramic tile with polished stone insets.

There's an attachment for the carpet too. I tried it on the carpet in a small section and it worked beautifully. My husband came in and said, "Wow! That carpet looks great!" He's been commenting on the kitchen floor all afternoon about how great it looks.

What a great investment!
